A venue with a public life
Programming is the front door
108 Blue Star is not a private-event venue that occasionally hosts arts programming. The public program is central to why the venue exists. It creates reasons to return, introduces new artists and ideas to the room, and keeps the venue connected to the cultural life around it. Programming may be produced by 108 Blue Star, co-presented with artists and organizations, or developed with partners who bring their own point of view to the space. The goal is not to fill every night. It is to make the nights that happen here worth showing up for.
Private events help sustain the work. Weddings, celebrations, corporate gatherings, brand events and creative productions are an important part of the operating model. Revenue from private events helps support the public-facing work that gives 108 Blue Star its character. At the same time, private clients benefit from holding their event in a venue shaped by artists, musicians, independent chefs, local boutique restaurants and creative partners. The two sides are not separate businesses sharing an address. They are designed to strengthen one another.
Built for collaboration. 108 Blue Star is open to partnerships that bring meaningful cultural work into the room — co-presented programs, artist-led projects, live music, chef and local boutique restaurant collaborations, conversations, community gatherings or other ideas that align with the venue's direction. We are especially interested in projects specific to San Antonio, connected to the people making work here, and capable of creating a real reason for audiences to gather.
A room with a history. The building at 108 Blue Star has held several creative lives. Its history reaches back to its industrial use with Pittsburgh Plate Glass, followed by the years when Jump-Start Performance Co. made the space a home for experimental theatre and performance. Brick at Blue Star later operated here for many years as a venue for markets, celebrations and community gatherings. 108 Blue Star began operating at the address on September 1, 2026, and carries that history forward without trying to recreate any one chapter that came before it.
Who is 108 Blue Star? The venue is operated by Nadine M. Fonseca and Tennasyn Moody in partnership with the Blue Star Arts Complex owner. The partnership brings together venue operations, cultural programming, event production, partnerships and technology, with the goal of building a sustainable, active place for both public and private use.
Part of Blue Star, distinct within it. 108 Blue Star is located within the Blue Star Arts Complex, but it is its own venue and operating entity. It is separate from Blue Star Contemporary, Blue Star Brewing and the other businesses and organizations located throughout the complex. When we refer to 108 Blue Star, we mean the venue at this address, its programming, its private events and the partnerships developed through it. 108 Blue Star, an arts venue in the Blue Star Arts Complex in Southtown, San Antonio.
